Ivonne Lopez Arce

Policy Analyst

Ivonne is a policy analyst with the NAP Global Network’s Resilience program, focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean.

She has extensive experience in environmental policy, having acted as Director for Environment and Climate Change Policy for Costa Rica and Nicaragua (as well as Programs and Political Support Officer) with the British Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica. In these roles, she was involved in the coordination of bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and the governments of Costa Rica and Nicaragua regarding climate and environmental agendas, as well as overseeing the execution of funding related to climate adaptation, forest and land use, biodiversity, marine management, and decarbonization.  Previously, she worked in the civil sector, leading sustainable development projects in Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Ivonne holds a licenciatura in international relations (with emphasis on international trade policy) and a bachelor’s degree in international relations, both from the National University of Costa Rica. She is fluent in Spanish and English and speaks Portuguese at an intermediate level.
